In 1888, the Loden mill in Mandling was founded by Phillip and Aloisia Stiegler. The current name 'Steiner' came about in 1910, through the takeover of the business by Franz Steiner. After the Second World War, loden was increasingly used as functional clothing. Following the transition to the 4th generation in 1970, the decision was made in 2001 to produce finished goods for the end consumer, such as blankets and hot water bottles.
