In 1888, Phillip and Aloisia Stiegler founded the loden mill in Mandling. The company adopted its current name, 'Steiner', in 1910 when Franz Steiner took over the business. After the Second World War, loden cloth was increasingly used for functional clothing. Following the transition to the fourth generation in 1970, the decision was made in 2001 to produce finished products for end consumers, such as blankets and hot water bottles.
