The Lodenwalke in Mandling was founded in 1888 by Phillip and Aloisia Stiegler. The current name 'Steiner' was adopted in 1910 when the company was taken over by Franz Steiner. After the Second World War, loden was increasingly used as functional clothing. Following the transition to the 4th generation in 1970, the decision was made in 2001 to manufacture finished products for the end consumer, such as blankets and hot water bottles.
