The Ulm Stool was designed in 1954 by Max Bill, the first rector of the Ulm School of Design (HfG), together with Hans Gugelot for the students of the HfG. The piece of furniture was made in the school's own carpentry workshop from donated wood.
Thanks to its lightweight and stable construction, the stool can be used in a variety of ways – as a seat, side table or shelf element, but also as a transport box, serving tray or table attachment.
