Kartell was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli. His son-in-law, Claudio Luti, took over the company in 1988 and brought new ideas into the company, as well as new designers, e.g., Piero Lissoni. The big breakthrough for Kartell came in 1999 with the production of furniture made from polycarbonate. Today, Kartell is distinguished by industrial manufacturing of the highest quality.
