Kartell was founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli. His son-in-law, Claudio Luti, took over the company in 1988 and brought new ideas into the business, as well as new designers, such as Piero Lissoni. The major breakthrough for Kartell came in 1999 through the manufacturing of furniture from polycarbonate. Today, Kartell is characterized by industrial production of the highest quality.
